Is leprosy infectious?

Yes but only mildly so. It is very difficult to catch and cannot be caught by a handshake. Over 95% of the world’s population is naturally immune to leprosy. Treatment with Multi-Drug Therapy (discovered in Ireland in the 1970’s) means that sufferers can be made non infectious in 24 hours.
